ACoS benchmarks vary by category, but here is a general guide to help you interpret your number.
Your ad spend is highly efficient. Most of your revenue converts into profit. This range is typical for branded campaigns or high-converting ASINs.
Healthy performance for most categories. Profitable at typical margins. Fine-tune bids and keywords to push toward the lower end.
Profitability depends on your margins. Common during product launches or aggressive ranking pushes. Optimization can usually improve this.
You are likely spending more on ads than you earn back. Review targeting, bids, and listing quality. Consider restructuring campaigns.
ACoS = (Ad Spend ÷ Ad Revenue) × 100
For example, if you spend $200 on ads and generate $1,000 in attributed sales, your ACoS is 20%. This means you spent 20 cents on advertising for every dollar of ad-attributed revenue.
Break-even ACoS equals your pre-ad profit margin. If your margin before advertising is 35%, then any ACoS below 35% means your ads are profitable. An ACoS above your margin means you are losing money on each ad-attributed sale.
ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) is the inverse of ACoS. A 25% ACoS equals a 4× ROAS — for every dollar spent you earn four dollars back. Both metrics tell the same story from different angles.
